RULES
We accept that fairies have traditionally been depicted as nude or wearing very little. In the past images of fairies
in children’s books have been tastefully depicted. We expect similar levels of moderation here.
Because you will be illustrating children’s books, or books meant for children and young adults, images with the
following types of content will not be tolerated and will be removed from the competition. Images depicting:
Genitalia, pornography, gratuitous nudity or scenes with an overtly sexual nature
Extreme violence and gore
Racist symbolism or overtones
TECHNICAL
If you are not digitally creating your images with a software package and are creating them on paper, once you have
completed your illustrations, you will need to get them scanned at a minimum of 300ppi - that is 300 pixels per inch.
This is to enable commercial reproduction of your images in print. Any less than 300 ppi and your image will appear
grainy and will give the appearance of low quality. We will not use low quality images in our books.
In order to improve your chances of being noticed, we would suggest you get them scanned in by professionals.
Once scanned hold on to these while we finalise the testing of the back-end database where we will capture your
images and where the public will be able to vote on the images displayed.
COPYRIGHT
These are your images and you hold the copyright even when submitted to PRODIGIUM.
However in submitting your images, you give the right to PRODIGIUM and to ABELA PUBLISHING to use the images
in their marketing and promotional materials and publications. Where the images are sold for commercial purposes
the illustrator can expect acknowledgement and reasonable compensation.
