Anyone who has been a calligrapher for over 5 years will know that when you go into bookshops there is a plethora of “How To” calligraphy books, yet there is precious little in the way of examples of works, or “Galleries”, from which calligraphers can learn and gain ideas.

Calli-Galleria plans to remedy this situation.

We don’t just want to remedy the situation, we want you to submit your works and we want you to vote on the submitted works so that in the end we can produce a book, CD or USB Stick of the best works by calligraphers for calligraphers
- and not an arbitrary collection of images decided on by a publisher (sic).

In doing so we plan to:

• give calligraphers a gallery of works that they want i.e. selected by voting
• increase the number of high quality gallery works available to the calligraphy fraternity and to the public as a whole
• widen access to the world of calligraphy to show that all-and-sundry that they can pick up a pen, or brush, and with a little application create something beautiful
• improve perceptions about calligraphy and calligraphers
